What are the specialities of the Vend\u00e9e?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The southern Vend\u00e9e<\/a> region is famous for its regional products: mogette, brioche, g\u00e2che, jambon de Vend\u00e9e and pr\u00e9fou are undoubtedly the best-known specialties. But the Baie de l’Aiguillon, which faces the sea, is best known for its production of bouchot mussels and its famous mizotte cheese<\/strong>.In Saint-Michel-en-l’Herm, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a romantic evening or a family lunch in a renowned gourmet restaurant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bouchot mussels are produced in the Bay of Aiguillon under the local name ” La Charron<\/strong> “. Only the mussel shipping centers of Marsilly, Esnandes and Charron, in Charente-Maritime, and l’Aiguillon-sur-Mer in Vend\u00e9e, in the south of France, are able to offer this product. <\/strong>are entitled to the Charron appellation. Does the name of our Vend\u00e9e campsite<\/a> “Les Mizottes” ring a bell? Mizotte is in fact the name of a grass that grows on the salt meadows of the southern Vend\u00e9e, and which has given its name to one of the best-known Vend\u00e9e cheeses. Its fruity taste, melt-in-the-mouth texture and amber color make Mizotte a much-loved cheese in Vend\u00e9e<\/strong>. Unfortunately, it is no longer made in Saint-Michel-en-l’Herm since January1,<\/sup> 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chef Lo\u00efc Rault will introduce you to tasty, flavorful cuisine at his restaurant ” La Rose Tr\u00e9mi\u00e8re<\/strong> ” in Saint-Michel-en-l’Herm. He prepares his dishes using local produce sourced directly from producers. For example, you’ll find cheeses from the farm “Au petit ch\u00e8vre Bertrand” in his fresh goat’s milk panna cotta with basil-tomato pesto and tapenade<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’ll be warmly welcomed in a rustic setting reminiscent of the farmhouse inns of yesteryear. Children will also be delighted by the gastronomes or petits gastronomes menu specially designed for them. An address we recommend without hesitation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
